EP!C Harvest

The EP!C Harvest program provides opportunities for more than 80 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to be involved in EP!C’s greenhouse, garden, and market stands. Individuals who work with EP!C Harvest learn about plant care, soil preparation, planting, garden upkeep and maintenance, harvesting, and preparing for winter. It empowers EP!C individuals with vocational, life, and social skills and enhances their self-sufficiency and independence.

Our greenhouse is used for flowers, vegetables, and planters. The EP!C Garden grows fresh vegetables for Alwan & Sons and Naturally Yours Grocery, and chefs at local businesses such as Table 19, One World, Mt. Hawley Country Club, and Lutheran Hillside Village. In addition to our fresh, homegrown vegetables, we also have seasonal floral offerings, such as hanging baskets in the spring, mums in the fall, and poinsettias around the holidays.

We proudly grow all of our produce at our location at 1913 W. Townline Road, and participate in seasonal markets.

You will find the Harvest team at:

  • One World (Tuesdays 4:30-7pm)
  • EP!C (Fridays 9am-3pm)
  • Peoria Riverfront Market (Saturdays 8am-noon)

We’d love for you to see how EP!C Harvest is helping our individuals cultivate a sense of pride and accomplishment in providing fresh, local produce and flowers to their community.
Come visit us at one of our seasonal markets, or enjoy our produce and flowers at one of our great local partners!

Employee Spotlight – Sandy Valentine

I work at EP!C because I believe learning is a lifelong process, and EP!C provides that opportunity to young adults with autism. Any time we can work with people expanding their independence is great for them and their community. This has came full circle for me; I first worked with “birth through  8” families of kids with special needs and then expanded to “birth through 21”, and now adults.  I learn from them and vice versa.  It is a very satisfying endeavor for all.

The Puzzle Place at EP!C offers a calm, safe place to work, socialize and enjoy some activities not always available in the regular classes. I believe we have reduced the behavior challenges that some adults with Autism experience. It has been a win-win situation for everyone.
